Is it safe to buy on Facebook Marketplace shipping

When you sell something with shipping on Marketplace, you can determine who pays the shipping cost at listing setup. Depending on how you've set up your listing, shipping will be paid by the buyer, Facebook, or you as the seller. If you've selected to pay the shipping costs, the costs will be deducted from your payout.

If you attempt to contact the seller and get no response, you can contact Facebook and request a refund. You should also report the buyer or seller as a scammer to alert Facebook of the misconduct. To report a person on Facebook Marketplace, navigate to the Marketplace icon on the left side of your screen.

Unless the seller specifically mentions shipping the item before you buy it, avoid having it shipped. Some sellers try to talk you into accepting a shipment so you'll pay for the item but then they never ship it. Legitimate local sellers will be willing to meet you like they originally agreed.
