How Do I Get Rid of Ghost Touch on My iPhone?

There are many fixes, and they include:

Solution 1: Clean Your Screen

Although you might not think it, the issue could be due to grease or muck collecting on your iPhone screen. Get a clean cloth (preferably a microfiber cloth) and give your display a good wipe down.

Your screen protector might be the culprit, as it could be unofficial and thick. It might not be registering your taps and swipes and may cause phantom touches. Remove it to fix iPhone ghost touch issue. Also get a new screen protector, as you risk dropping and breaking your display.

Solution 3: Remove Your iPhone Case

Your screen protector could also be unofficial. It could have been poorly designed and may keep pressing against your iPhone 11 display. Try removing your case and see if this helps. You'll have to get a new case if it does.

Solution 4: Force-Restart your iPhone

You may be dealing with a one-time isolated glitch. Force-restarting your device will clear it.

The force-restart process differs for different iPhone models, but here's what to do on the iPhone 11:

• Press and hold the Volume Up button
• Press and hold the Volume Down button
• Keep holding the Side button until the Apple logo appears

You might have meddled with your device's settings and caused overrides, causing your screen to act up. If you know what settings you changed, you can just change it back. If you don't remember, you will have to reset all your settings.

It will wipe your system clean in a bid to clear any stubborn software problems that may be causing the unexpected touches. All your personal data will be erased, so backup your files beforehand.

Here's what you do:

• Go to Settings app > tap General > Reset (or Transfer or Reset iPhone)
• Tap Erase all Content & Settings
• Enter your Apple ID password to confirm

Your iPhone 11 will automatically restart. Hopefully, your iPhone's screen will be fixed.

Solution 10: Enter Recovery Mode

Entering recovery mode is like factory-resetting but more comprehensive. It can identify and clear more errors that may be causing your display problem. However, disconnecting mid-recovery restoration can be risky, as you could face annoying errors.

If you guessed it, yes, all your personal data will be cleared. Backup your files beforehand.

Here's how you enter recovery mode:

• Open iTunes on your desktop
• Connect your iPhone to your computer via lightning or USB cable
• Close all the other programs that are running; they can interrupt the recovery process
• Click the following buttons: Press and hold the Volume Up button, then do the same for the Volume Down button. Put your finger on the Power button until the recovery mode screen appears
• Tap Restore iPhone

As mentioned, don't disconnect midway. You will automatically exit recovery mode if the recovery process is not complete in 15 minutes.

Solution 11: Use Recovery Software

Not a fan of entering recovery mode? This is understandable, as you will lose all your personal data and risk getting stuck on a boot loop. Thankfully, there is a better troubleshooting solution that doesn't erase any personal data. This is by using recovery software. Most recovery software are thorough, however, you will have to purchase them.

• Launch the program
• Click on the Start button on the program's mainscreen
• Choose Standard Repair
• Confirm the firmware package that has to be installed

DFU restorations are more comprehensive than recovery restorations. However, entering Device Firmware Update mode is risky, as you could brick iOS if you have ever jailbroken your system before.

Similar to the other troubleshooting methods above, your system will be wiped clean in an attempt to clear stubborn software problems that may be causing your display to malfunction.

Backup your files beforehand, as all your personal data will be lost.

Here's how to enter DFU Mode:

• Open iTunes on your computer
• Plug your iPhone to your desktop via lightning or USB cable
• Close all other programs that are running so they don't interrupt the DFU restoration
• Click the following buttons: Place your finger on the Power button for a couple of seconds, and simultaneously start holding the Volume Down button. Keep pressing them for around 10 seconds. Take your finger off the Power button but continue to press the Volume Down button for 5 more seconds. If you see a black screen, you've followed the steps correctly
• Click Restore iPhone

Don't disconnect until after iTunes is done, for the same reasons as when performing a recovery restoration.

Solution 13: Contact Apple Support

If none of the above solutions worked, you will have to contact Apple support. Your ghost touch issue most likely is hardware-related. You might have dropped and badly damaged your handset, and you may need to get your screen replaced.

If you don't have your warranty, getting your iPhone fixed might be costly.
