How do I block Facebook on Chrome without an extension?

Blocking yourself from accessing Facebook can help you be more productive, especially if you frequently find yourself checking the social media site when you should be working. Google Chrome does not feature a native site-blocking function, but does allow you to install third-party blocking extensions such as Block Site, StayFocusd and tinyFilter. Go to the Block Site page of the Chrome Web Store (link in Resources), click the “Free” button, and then select “Add” on the following pop-up window to install the Block Site browser extension.

   Refresh Chrome. Click ⟳ in the top-left side of the Chrome window. This will refresh Chrome and place the Block Site icon in the upper-right side of the Chrome browser.

   Click the Block Site icon. It resembles a "www" with a circle and slash through it. You'll find it in the top-right side of the Chrome window. Doing so prompts a drop-down menu.

   Click Close. It's a blue button at the bottom of the page. This will close Block Site. Facebook will remain blocked until you unblock it.
