A. Pengertian Job Application Letter

Job application letter berarti surat lamaran kerja yang dikirim pelamar kerja kepada perusahaan/tempat kerja yang membutuhkan lowongan tersebut. Tujuan menulis job application letter adalah untuk mendapatkan kesempatan interview. Maka dari itu, untuk mendapatkan panggilan interview, perhatikan hal-hal yang diperlukan dalam menulis surat lamaran kerja.

Cara menulis surat lamaran kerja yakni: Harus ditulis dengan baik untuk menarik perhatian dan minat HRD atau orang yang berwenang agar merekomendasikan kamu. Jelaskan kenapa kamu memenuhi syarat dari posisi tersebut dan berhak dipilih untuk mengikuti wawancara. Sorot keahlian, pengalaman, serta kemampuan sesuai kriteria yang dibutuhkan. Gunakan font formal seperti Times New Rowman, Arial, atau Calibri dengan ukuran 12 poin. Perlu diingat, surat lamaran kerja tidak boleh lebih dari 1 halaman.

Berikut sruktur pembuatan surat lamaran kerja (job application letter):

  1. Your Name, E-Mail, and Address
  2. Date
  3. The Hiring Manager
    (Nama perusahaan yang dilamar, alamat, dan e-mail).
  4. Salutation
  5. Opening Paragraph
    (Paragraf pembuka yang menyebutkan posisi apa dan dimana kamu mendapat informasi pekerjaan tersebut).
  6. Body Paragraph
    (Isi paragraf yang menjelaskan bagaimana kamu dapat mengisi posisi yang dibutuhkan. Dalam body paragraph, seorang pelamar kerja dapat menuliskan hal-hal secara detail, namun tetap relevan dengan pengalaman dan pencapaianmu).
  7. Closing Paragraph
    (Paragraf penutup yang berisi ucapan terima kasih, penawaran, serta ajakan agar pihak yang berwenang dapat memberi informasi lebih lanjut).
  8. Complimentary Close

Kita sebaiknya menuliskan nama belakang dari si penerima surat dan pastikan diakhiri dengan tanda comma.

Jika kita tidak mengetahui nama orang yang kita tuju atau HRD managernya, atau siapapun yang bertugas merekrut pegawai baru, kita cukup menuliskan salam seperti:

Jika kita juga bingung apakah orang yang menerima surat laki-laki atau perempuan kita dapat menuliskan:

Paragraf ini harus berisi tentang informasi diri dan posisi yang dilamar.

Paragraf ini juga harus menuntun pada paragraf selanjutnya dengan menyebutkan qualifikasi yang dimiliki secara singkat atau kenapa kita tertarik terhadap posisi yang dilamar.

Paragraf ke dua berisi tentang qualifikasi atau keterampilan yang dimiliki.

Kita juga dapat menyebutkan prestasi yang pernah diraih untuk menunjukan bahwa kita memang cocok untuk posisi yang dilamar.

Intinya adalah kita harus mempromosikan diri kita sebaik mungkin pada paragraf ke dua.

Paragraf ke tiga berisi sebuah penutupan. Kita dapat menyampaikan bahwa kita memiliki qualifikasi yang sesuai untuk posisi yang dilamar.

Kita juga dapat menyertakan sebuah kontak sekaligus menunjukan bahwa kita mengharapkan sebuah panggilan interview.

Dan yang terakhir ucapkan terima kasih.

Pada bagian akhir paragraf tiga biasanya kita menuliskan kalimat penutup, kalimat penutup yang dapat kita gunakan seperti:

Closing and Signature: Tuliskan salam penutup, tanda tangan serta nama lengkap pada bagian akhir surat lamaran pekerjaan.

Tips: Sebagai tips tambahan saat menulis surat lamaran pekerjaan (meskipun pada akhirnya jika kita akan benar-benar melamar pekerjaan, kita pasti mencari template yang sudah ada di Google 😅)

Tapi untuk informasi tambahan sebaiknya kita tidak menggunakan singkatan seperti:

Don't, I'm, Can't, Isn't, dsb.

Kita sebaiknya menulisnya dengan tidak disingkat seperti Do not, I am, Can not, Is not, dsb.

Dan yang paling penting pastikan kita menggunakan bahasa yang baik, sopan dan formal.

Perlu diingat bahwa, ada banyak versi atau format penulisan surat lamaran pekerjaan. Seperti ada yang menuliskan tanggal (date) ataupun tidak, ada yang menuliskan penerima surat di sebelah kiri dan ada pula yang menulis di sebelah kanan.

Kita tidak bisa mengatakan versi yang ini benar dan yang itu salah ataupun sebaliknya. Karena setiap orang yang memberikan teori tentang format penulisan surat lamaran mengklaim bahwa versi miliknya benar.

Daripada kita dipusingkan dengan hal-hal teknis seperti itu yang pada kenyataannya seiring perkembangan zaman format penulisan surat lamaran makin beragam dan makin unik, kita bisa cek sendiri banyak bertebaran di internet berbagai macam template surat lamaran pekerjaan dengan format yang berbeda-beda.

Jadi pointnya adalah kita hanya akan fokuskan pembahasan materi ini pada bagian-bagian utama dari sebuah surat lamaran pekerjaan tersebut seperti yang telah dijelaskan di bagian atas.
